Theme of the week is family

It’s been a busy week around here. I guess the theme has been ‘family’. There have been big milestones, as well as the day-to-day work of keeping us going with clean laundry and warm meals.

We had a toddler birthday, and planned and celebrated with a simple party. Egg and cucumber sandwiches and humble plates of fruit for the win!

There were – as usual – toys all over the floor.

We heard lots of fun music. We played musical statues on the thrifted keyboard above and streamed the French internet radio station FIP almost every day. Do you know it? They feature the most marvellous, eclectic collection of music from forgotten American oldies to new French rap.

And we ended the week with a clean-out-the-fridge kale and white bean stew.

When the house is a bit messy

When the house is a bit messy, leave the dishes and go outside. Even if it’s too late to set off on a faraway adventure and you just want to lie on the couch, go outside. Leave the house and go outside. Take a shoe-fie with your kid. You made it out of the house!

Run, don’t walk! The playground is in sight.

When you get home, eat the butter cake you were saving for afternoon tea. Enjoy! :)
